Three standout athletes from FOG Gold 18U have been named to the 2025 U19 Team Canada program. They will have the opportunity to represent Canada at either the 2025 Boys’ U19 Pan American Cup in Cuernavaca, Mexico, or the 2025 Boys’ U19 World Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

All three were key members of the U19 Team Canada squad that competed at the NORCECA Championship in Puerto Rico in 2024, helping Canada secure a top-four finish and a berth in the 2025 World Championship.

  • Luke Wright, an outside hitter from Edmonton, finished the NORCECA Championship with 70 kills, 11 aces, and 12 blocks, ranking in the tournament’s top 8 in scoring and named its fifth-best server. Luke is the FOG’s 18U go-to right side, known for his dominant front-row presence, powerful C-ball, solid blocking, and strong serving. He will attend Mount Royal University this fall.
  • Ben Weiss, a setter from Sherwood Park, contributed 7 kills, 2 aces, and 4 blocks in the tournament. A reliable and consistent setter, Ben is known for his calm leadership, strong blocking skills, and steady serve. He has committed to the NAIT Ooks for the fall.
  • Kai Miles, also an outside hitter from Edmonton, tallied 25 kills, 1 ace, and 2 blocks across three matches. Kai brought steady energy to the lineup and played an important role in Canada’s depth at the outside position. His work ethic, resilience, and team-first mindset were especially evident as he made a remarkable return to high-performance volleyball after overcoming a life-threatening medical issue during the tournament. He will be attending Queen’s University this fall.

Both Kai and Luke also took part in the National Excellence Program with Team Canada in the fall of 2024, spending four months training in Gatineau, Quebec—a testament to their ongoing commitment to high-performance development. These experiences will serve them well as they prepare for a pivotal summer with U19 Team Canada.
