2009 USA Adult Open Championships - May 27-30, 2009

The FOG Canada Masters Women's team win gold beating CTF Brasil from Brasil the 50 & Over Division. The ladies went undefeated over the Championship winning 9 straight matches and only dropping 1 set throughout the whole Championship. Monica Hitchcock, Karin Maessen and Margaret Negenman received "All Tournament" recognition while Margaret also took home the MVP award.

FOG Masters Women's won gold in the 45 & Over category beating ROOF Sportswear in the final match of the tournament. The ladies posted a 10-1 record losing only 4 set throughout the whole tournament.

FOG Masters Women's team take home a silver medal from the 2009 USA Adult Open Championship in the 40 & Over Division. They lost out to Kashi from Southern California. Joyce Gamborg, Michele Prince and Christina Thorson all got "All Tournament" Award.

FOG Hawks U14 girls win gold medal in Division 1, Teir 2 Championship. They defeated FVVC Black from Langley, BC in 2 straight sets, 25-23, 25-11.

FOG Hitmen U13 boys get gold medal in Teir 2 Championship beating the Selkirk Royals from Selkirk, MB, 2-0, 25-17, 25-23 in the final.

FOG Foundation Volleyball Scholarships

The FOG Volleyball Foundation has a scholarship program for many athletes; scholarships enable athletes to attend either Jasper Volleyball Camp (JVC) or Sylvan Lake Volleyball Camp (SLVC).

 

 

 

JVC / SLVC Scholarships

The FOG Volleyball Foundation has a scholarship program for many athletes; scholarships enable athletes to attend either Jasper Volleyball Camp (JVC) or Sylvan Lake Volleyball Camp (SLVC). The amount of the scholarship ranges from $50.00 to $200 and the criteria are commitment and desire to excel in the sport of volleyball, and financial need (secondary criteria).

FOG scholarship applicants are required to submit the Alberta Volleyball Association (AVA) office.

  1. letter of recommendation
  2. personal letter describing his/her involvement in volleyball.

Deadline: May 22 of each year

Player Development Awards

Field of Study: Open

Value: $1,000 each

Number: Six (3 to Golden Bears and 3 to Pandas)

Deadline: November 1 of each year

Conditions

To be awarded annually to undergraduate students enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of study who are members of the Golden Bears or Pandas Volleyball Teams and who have achieved a grade point average of 6.0 or better on a minimum of 24 credits in the previous academic year. Award distribution is three awards to members of the Golden Bears Volleyball Team and three awards to members of the Pandas Volleyball Team. Selection will be based on past excellence and future potential in the sport of volleyball, as well as outstanding contribution to the team on and off the court.

Preference will be given to athletes that have not received other financial awards (i.e. Universiade '83, Jimmie Condon, National Carding).

Donor

The Fog Volleyball Foundation, to encourage and financially assist elite male and female volleyball athletes in the pursuit of their academic and athletic careers at the University of Alberta.
