2009 USA Adult Open Championships - May 27-30, 2009

The FOG Canada Masters Women's team win gold beating CTF Brasil from Brasil the 50 & Over Division. The ladies went undefeated over the Championship winning 9 straight matches and only dropping 1 set throughout the whole Championship. Monica Hitchcock, Karin Maessen and Margaret Negenman received "All Tournament" recognition while Margaret also took home the MVP award.

FOG Masters Women's won gold in the 45 & Over category beating ROOF Sportswear in the final match of the tournament. The ladies posted a 10-1 record losing only 4 set throughout the whole tournament.

FOG Masters Women's team take home a silver medal from the 2009 USA Adult Open Championship in the 40 & Over Division. They lost out to Kashi from Southern California. Joyce Gamborg, Michele Prince and Christina Thorson all got "All Tournament" Award.

U18/U17

The 17U/18U are the third and fourth stages of elite development within Alberta's elite development system. Competition consists of 4 Premier events, and a Provincial Championship leading to an "Open" Canadian National Championship. These are competitive teams that have an interest in competing at the Canadian National Championship.  17U teams will play in the 18U Premier Series but will have their own division at Provincials. 

Tryouts cannot commence prior to the completion of the ASAA volleyball provincial championships. Therefore, tryouts generally will start on the last Sunday of November or the first week of December.

Senior - 21U

21U volleyball is the final stage in Alberta’s elite development system which leads to a “Canadian National Championship". This level is the most elite level of play with the desire of most teams to compete at the Canadian National Championship. These teams are generally comprised of current college and university players who come together after their respective institutional seasons to participate in the Provincial and National Championships.

These are the first age groups that outstanding individual athletes may lead into Alberta's Provincial Team Program.

Masters

A division growing in popularity, the Masters division is for those players over the age of 35 who have a desire to play with their peers.  The Adult and Masters Provincial Championships is an open event designed for competitive players in Alberta.

These are the first age groups designed to focus on "playing the game". 

Tryouts and training at the 14U/13U age groups may not commence until January 1st of the current club volleyball season.  Club teams are selected in January and train 2-3 times per week. Competition consist generally of 2 Premier events, Provincial Championship, and a National Championship (optional).

Little Foggers (Under 12 Program)

The philosophy of this program is to provide young players the best way to learn to play the game of volleyball in a fun, participation-based and non-competitive environment. 

This is a introductory volleyball program designed for players 11-12 years old. Exceptions will be made for players aged 10, depending on the numbers participating in the program/sessions.  The program is designed for players new to the sport and for those who have some (limited) experience.

FOG Skills Clinic XII and XIII
Tuesday, March 2nd and 9th, 2010

 

Location: Amiskawaciy Academy
Time: 7:30- 9:30
Purpose: Training the setter– (intended for coaches who need to learn how to train setters and female setters only U13 to U15 who need skill work development in setting)

Session 1 – March 2 - Session 1 is cancelled due to gym cancellation
Focus: Techique, footwork/movement (on/off net), set against the flow, power and middle  setting
 
Session 2 – March 9 - Session 2 is still scheduled
Focus: right side setting, dumping, deception, and role of setter

Purpose:  Training the setter– (intended for coaches who need to learn how to train setters and female setters U15 to U18 who need skill work development in setting)

Camp Form...

Fee:  $30

  1. can register separately at $30 per individual athlete  or coach per session
  2. can register as a coach/setter combo for $50 ($25 for each additional setter) per session

2010 FOG Tryouts

FOG tryouts for the 2011 season will commence November 28, 2010 for U15 - U18 age groups.  The 14 & Under and 13 & Under age categories will start their tryouts in January, 2011.  Stay tuned to our web site for more current information.
