Fog U13 boys dominate the first AVA U13 premier tournament in Calgary
The U13 boys Fog Black team coached by Oliver Semonis and Marko Grgic and the Fog Red team coached by Boris Luc and Kelly Rosnau dominated the opposition in Calgary on Feb 25 and 26 winning the gold and silver medals in the first AVA U13 premier tournament. In the all-FOG final, FOG Black won 2-1 in a spirited match. Congratulations to both teams.

Fog Fury 15U Girls took 1st place, in Division 2
Fog Fury 15U Girls took 1st place, in Division 2, at the Volleyball Alberta Premier #1 North competition, in Edmonton, on the weekend of February 11-12, 2017.
The Fog Fury 15U Girls team, proudly coached by Corey Boelee, Justin Weinkauf and Tina Hjelm, celebrated an exciting win in the VA Premier I, Division 2 Final. FOG Fury won the final match 2-1.

"On February 18, 2017 the FOG Thunder U16 ladies entered the First Annual TONY SPIRIT U17 Volleyball Tournament and placed 3rd. Winning a BRONZE Handshake from the organizers and many hearts. ALL proceeds went to Cancer Research.

|Fog welcomes our new U15 boys professional coach Stephen Leggitt |
Stephen Leggitt brings over 32 years of coaching experience to the Fog U15 boys volleyball program.
Stephen Leggitt is now in his 4th season as head coach of the University of Alberta, Augustana Men’s Volleyball program and 9th season with Viking’s athletics. In his three years as head coach of the Augustana Men’s program the Viking’s have achieved a gold and bronze medal in ACAC (Alberta College Athletic conference) competition. He is a level 3 National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) Coach and is currently finishing up his last requirements for level 4. Leggitt is a Volleyball Canada level 3 course conductor and is recognized as a ChPC (Chartered Professional Coach) by the Coaching Association of Canada.
Over the years Leggitt has placed a number of athletes into provincial programs, Junior National Team program’s as well as Canada’s Senior National team. In 2004, Stacey Gordon, an athlete whom Stephen coached for 5 years with the Wolves Volleyball Club, was named NCAA player of the year. In the summer months, Leggitt is the technical director for Volley Blast summer camps in Alberta and Saskatchewan, managing a twelve-court facility with over 350 athletes and 40 coaches.
From 2001-2006 Stephen Leggitt was an Assistant Coach with the University of Calgary and York University Volleyball programs, helping the Calgary Dinos win a bronze medal at CIS Nationals in 2002 and helping York University reach Nationals for the first time in twelve years. From 1994 to 2001, he coached with the Ganaraska Wolves Women’s Volleyball Club in Ontario, winning a number of provincial championships, culminating in an 18U national silver medal in 2001. 2001 also saw Stephen make the move to Calgary to continue his coaching studies at the NCI (National Coaching Institute) and to work with the Dinos Men’s Volleyball program. In 2001 he was also the Head Coach of Team Alberta 18U Women’s program, who captured a gold medal in the Western Canadian Elite Championship. Stephen also coached for three years at Montana State University with one of Canada's most respected coaches Greg Ryan.

|U14,15,16 Female Fog Volleyball Camp August 21-24 |
We are proud to offer a summer volleyball camp by the name of Born on a Court that will run on August 21 through until August 24 2017. This camp is being offered for female athletes competing in the U14, U15, and U16 age categories. This camp will start at 12:00 pm and conclude at 4:00 pm each day. The camp will take place at the Saville centre at south campus.
The fee schedule is $275.00 per athlete which includes the below training as well as a camp branded tee shirt. The coaches for this camp are all NCCP certified and we are also please to advise that there will be college level guest coaches attending the camp to offer their assistance.
The camp will include:
- General fitness along with Core training to be taught be certified instructor
- Training in fundamental skill sets to be covered such as passing, hitting, setting, and blocking.
- Training in a 5-1 positional system will be introduced for both offensive and defensive setups.
- Competitive games to incorporate training into gameplay.
- In conjunction with the above we are able to offer more advanced training to athletes the want to pursue further advancement.

Fog player Grayden Wiebe from Fog Black U17's coached by Greg Elgert was chosen to represent Canada for the U16 Team Canada Selects. He will be training in Abbotsford and attending the HP championships in Florida in July. Congratulations.

The Fog Black U15 boys coached by Jace Barros and Kyle Erickson won the gold medal to win the Canadian National Championship in Regina Saskatoon, May 20-22 defeating Canuck Black 25-10, 25-16 in a decisive final. David Pardell was the tournament MVP and Bryce Neuls and Ryan Wasylyshyn were tournament All Stars. Congratulations to all.

The Sport Conference is designed for coaches, parents, athletes, students and sport administrators ... if you are interested in sport, there is something of interest for you. The Sport Conference will be hosted at the University of Alberta May 31 to June 4, 2017. All conference presenters are staff, students or alumni of the U of A. $150 for the entire four day conference. Note that The Sport Conference passes are transferable.
